simplexity principals
Oliver Crow
Oliver Crow is Simplexity's principal software systems architect and the Director
of Systems Development. He has over twenty years of experience developing applications
software in both academic and commercial environments.
He brings to Simplexity a dedication to quality and process in the production
of software systems and applications. It is his contention that most computer
software annoys its users and that this shortcoming is worthy of the serious
attention of application designers and developers. The amount of time and energy
that we all spend lost in frustration with the systems that are supposed to
help us should be a source of great embarrassment to those of us tasked with
system development.
Oliver grew up in the suburbs of London and attended college at the University
of Leeds. After graduating he was drawn to California by the promise of a culture
open to new ideas, and in 1992 he moved to Berkeley to continue his studies
in multimedia systems.
In the 90’s Oliver worked on multimedia systems, network architecture
and the internet. He was instrumental in a number of projects in digital video
effects and interactive digital media. He created and managed networks and
applications on UC Berkeley campus for distributing digital video in higher
education and research applications. In 1999 he co-founded the web application
development company SkyMind. In 2001 Simplexity and Skmind merged, and he has
since worked on the Simplexity team building developing custom web applications
and databases for a variety of industries.
Oliver believes that the most interesting and effective work is always done
by small teams of highly skilled people, working tightly together on well defined
projects. This is the approach we strive for at Simplexity.
